Senior Accountant

JOB TITLE: Senior Accountant


REPORT TO: Chief Operating Officer




The senior accountant position is responsible for serving as a team leader in the finance department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization. Actively supports and participates in Chamber programs and events. Able to work under multiple deadlines, interpret priorities, and act as a team member.


  • Verifies all general ledger and database inputs
  • Prepares input of revenues into the general ledger
  • Processing of accounts payable, creation of and distribution of checks – all companies,/li>
  • Reviews monthly invoicing process for database errors and coordinates corrective actions
  • Prepares and reviews monthly account reconciliations
  • Prepares recurring journal entries
  • Assists the COO with general ledger detail analysis and adjustments, preparation of monthly financial reports, and compilation of annual budget
  • Responds to requests from staff for accounting information, financial and budget reports,/li>
  • Participates in Chamber events
  • Assists in quarterly departmental reforecasts
  • Accountant for fixed assets monthly
  • Creates custom financial reports
  • Responsible in maintaining and creating budget and reforecast reports
  • Other duties as required


    • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices and procedures
    • Degree in Accounting
    • Understanding of internal accounting controls
    • Computer literate with general ledger and spreadsheet software experience
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong accounting analysis skills working with general ledger and cash projections
