VICE PRESIDENT MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

The Vice President Membership Development will report to the CEO and is responsible for strategic development, implementation and execution of the membership and events-related functions of the Chamber, including sales, retention and sponsorship that will align with the Chamber’s mission and enhance the overall relevancy and growth of the Chamber. This position will focus heavily on sales management and upon talent development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for directing sales strategies and processes, executing business plans, leading and developing personnel to support and generating “dues” revenues in accordance with the Chamber’s mission and budgets
• Responsible for directing sales strategies, overseeing business plans, leading personnel and generating “non-dues” revenues including sponsorships, advertising, event sales, affinity partnerships and other programs, all in accordance with the Chamber’s mission and budgets
• Responsible for controlling expenses and producing revenue for signature and member events
• Works closely and collaboratively with CEO, the Chief Operating Officer and other members of the Executive Team, as well as the Executive Committee/Board of Trustees as appropriate, to refine and implement strategic plans while ensuring that budgets, staffing and other resources are aligned with the Chamber’s core mission and value proposition
• Leads and builds strong sales/retention teams; provides the training and guidance needed to motivate them and enable them to succeed
• Leads and builds strong events and engagement teams; overseeing the events calendar and providing guidance when needed
• Works continuously to deliver on the Chamber’s value proposition; ensures that the membership is served with relevant and meaningful resources
• Evaluates membership levels, pricing, sponsorship opportunities and benefits to respond to changes in the marketplace
• Partners with the Chief Operating Officer to establish metrics, evaluate programs and processes and forecast revenue for new member sales, renewals, advertising and sponsorships
• Partners with other departments to secure sponsorships for upcoming Chamber initiatives
• Actively supports and participates in Chamber programs and events
• Develops and/or maintains effective sales processes and training strategies to achieve the Chamber’s goals
• Develops and/or maintains an effective recruiting strategy designed to simplify the filling of all open positions with talented and motivated individuals
• Develops and/or maintains an effective onboarding system to ensure new employees are given the tools and motivation necessary to achieve success early in their tenure

• Current experience in successfully directing and managing staff in work-from-home and/or remote locations preferred
• Experience in holding sales team members accountable and responsible for achieving sales objectives/results, creating individual action-plans and coaching for success
• Knowledge of, and ability to evaluate and recommend social, digital and multimedia platforms that contribute to delivering on the Chamber’s value propositions
• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field
• Minimum five years’ experience as a proven leader in a business organization or association in the areas of sales, marketing, sponsorship development and/or other relevant disciplines
